At long last, California got the green light to play high school football beginning in early March. While the season will be shortened, there is still plenty of talent and top teams to follow.
The preseason MaxPreps California All-State high school football team features 52 players from 26 schools, many of whom are headed to Power 5 college programs.
There are a handful of top-tier names from the Class of 2021 that opted to forgo the high school season in preparation for college ball, including
Korey Foreman of Centennial (Corona), the top-rated recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings. Other notables missing include
Troy Franklin of Menlo-Atherton,
Xavier Worthy of Central (Fresno),
Tyler Buckner of Helix (La Mesa),
Miller Moss of Alemany,
Beaux Collins of St. John Bosco and
Brock Bowers of Napa.
St. John Bosco and Mater Dei, which finished 1-2 in the final MaxPreps Top 25 rankings for 2019, are both well-represented on the preseason All-State team.
Mater Dei leads the way with nine selections, including Oklahoma commit Raleek Brown and USC-bound DB Domani Jackson. Bosco landed eight players on the All-State team, including junior running back Rayshon Luke and defensive lineman Nathan Burrell.
