After flying high against the Omaha Northwest Huskies last Tuesday, the Millard South Patriots came back down to earth. Millard South was the victim of a rough 86-62 loss at the hands of Omaha Westside on Friday. While losing is never fun, Millard South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Omaha Westside is ranked seventh).
Bernie Anderson and Isaac Jensen certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Anderson scored 20 points along with two steals, while Jensen scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Koby Meyers was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
It was another big night for Caleb Benning, who scored 16 points along with six assists and four steals for Omaha Westside. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benning has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Stubblefield, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Millard South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Omaha Westside, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millard South will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Millard West at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Millard South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Omaha Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
