The Suffield Wildcats have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Bolton by a score of 33-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Suffield of the 44-26 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Niya Islam was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with two steals for Bolton. That makes it four consecutive games in which Islam has scored at least a third of Bolton's points. Another player making a difference was Abbie Gravel, who scored two points along with ten rebounds.
Suffield's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Bolton, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suffield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Rams at 6:45 p.m. on February 2nd. Rockville is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Bolton, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Spartans at 6:45 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Somers is ranked 53rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 58th).
