Lake Belton is 0-1 against Midlothian since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Lake Belton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Granbury, posting a 45-7 win on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.
Lake Belton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Mascarenas out in front who threw for 198 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Hudson, who picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Lake Belton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Garrett Roland and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Midlothian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it six two weeks ago. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 49-15 victory over Granbury. Given Midlothian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Granbury is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Belton has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight matchups, giving them a 7-1 record. As for Midlothian, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
Lake Belton couldn't quite finish off Midlothian when the teams last played back in October of 2022 and fell 39-37. Will Lake Belton have more luck at home instead of on the road?
