Triplains/Brewster is 0-10 against Northern Valley since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Triplains/Brewster Titans will be playing at home against the Northern Valley Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Triplains/Brewster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Northern Valley is ranked 101st).
Triplains/Brewster has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 52-43 victory over St. Francis on Tuesday.
Triplains/Brewster's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peterson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Koda Kvasnicka, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Northern Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alma. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northern Valley has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kenton Thalheim, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Schemper, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Northern Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Triplains/Brewster's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Northern Valley, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-1.
Friday's match will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Nick Zerr and Schemper. Zerr has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 9.9 points, 2.1 steals, and 8.2 rebounds. For his part, Schemper has averaged 15.1 points, 1.6 blocks, and 7.9 rebounds.
