Softball Recap: Cuba/Spoon River Valley Drops Season-High Score on Peoria Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cuba/Spoon River Valley). They blew past the Peoria Heights Patriots 25-1 on Thursday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Emma Probyn was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Probyn was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kacie White, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Abbie Johnson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and four RBI.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cuba/Spoon River Valley will head out to face off against Biggsville West Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peoria Heights, they will venture away from home to square off against Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
