After a string of five wins, the Whitesboro Bearcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Paradise 37-32. While losing is never fun, Whitesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 659th, while Paradise is ranked 266th).
Paradise's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Channing Beauvais, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Mitschke, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Whitesboro's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-15. As for Paradise, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
Whitesboro will be playing at home against Pilot Point at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Pilot Point is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Paradise, they will head out on the road to take on S & S Consolidated at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
