This season hasn't been kind to the Carson Cougars, who are still winless after their 11th contest. They had to suffer through a rough 65-23 loss at the hands of North Rowan. Carson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.
Carson's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Laila Furr and Brooklyn Mcbride. Furr scored six points along with three steals, while Mcbride scored a points. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Carson bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.1 points per game. As for North Rowan, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Carson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northwest Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Northwest Cabarrus presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carson in North Carolina (Northwest Cabarrus is ranked 136th, while Carson is ranked 558th). As for North Rowan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Davidson is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
