Etna unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Anderson Cubs. Leading Anderson to victory were Jagger Johnson and Cooper Crye. Johnson rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, while Crye threw for 288 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. Johnson also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles, and defending one pass. A healthy portion of Crye's aerial production (109 yards to be exact) went to Michael Manley.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Etna will welcome Hoopa Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Anderson, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Live Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
