The St. Michael the Archangel Guardians will take on the Holden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Michael the Archangel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by Sherwood at home to the tune of 38-0.
Cam Zaun continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 166 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Green, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Holden entered their tilt with Lexington with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Holden was the clear victor by a 32-6 margin over Lexington.
St. Michael the Archangel's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Central and 2-8 KIPP Legacy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.5% over those games). As for Holden, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
