Makayla Clark has been tabbed as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for October 1.
The pitcher/shortstop was 6-0 in the circle with a 1.45 ERA over 29 innings of work and 41 strikeouts, while hitting .353 (6-for-17) with a double, a HR, five walks and five RBIs. Clark allowed just four hits and no runs over her last 18 innings of work during the week.
Among her outstanding pitching efforts was a complete-game, two-hit shutout to go along with 13 strikeouts during a 5-0 triumph over Wilcox County (GA). In a 12-0 rout of Lanier County (GA) on September 29, Clark earned the pitching win, striking out nine over five frames of work while going a perfect 2-for-2 at the dish with a HR and four RBIs.
Clark is now batting .455 overall for the 21-5 Trojans with eight doubles, three HR's and 23 RBIs, while boasting an outstanding 12-1 pitching mark with a 1.77 ERA and 104 K's. Her 41 strikeouts during this past week represented 39% of her entire season's total.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
