Basketball Recap: Centennial Piles Up the Points Against John Carroll Catholic

Centennial posted their biggest victory since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by the John Carroll Catholic Rams to the tune of 82-51. With the Eagles ahead 45-24 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Felix Buroz out in front who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points along with seven steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Buroz a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Felix, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points.

Buroz wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Carroll Catholic only posted seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why John Carroll Catholic lost, don't look at Joaquin Ruiz. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Ruiz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
