The Pilgrim Academy extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Atlantic Christian Cougars. Andrea German led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Wolcott, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
As for Atlantic Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.
On Atlantic Christian's side, Ava Nixon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Atlantic Christian let Alexis Shropshire and Taylor Sutton run wild. Shropshire went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Sutton went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caelyn Domsic, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
