Basketball Recap: Nitro Skates Past Hoover with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Nitro over Hoover in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Nitro Wildcats blew the Hoover Huskies out of the water with a 68-41 final score. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Nitro to victory were Natalie Smith and Bri Gibson. Smith almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Gibson posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in field goal percentage (83%). Another player making a difference was Mika Adams, who put up eight points.

Nitro was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only nine assists.

Hoover's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eden Niewierowski, who earned four points. Taylor Jones also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Nitro's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Nitro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-36 win against St. Albans on the 27th. As for Hoover, they have also already played their next contest, a 65-31 loss against Sissonville on the 28th.
