Basketball Recap: Wingate Sets Scoring Season-High Against Many Farms

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wingate). They pulled ahead with a 60-59 photo finish over the Many Farms Lobos on Friday. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 65-63 victory the Lobos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Wingate was led to victory by Morning Sky Iron Moccasin and Rhianna Begay. Iron Moccasin posted 22 points, while Begay put up 19 points. With that strong performance, Iron Moccasin is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Another player making a difference was Keira Casamero, who earned seven points.

Many Farms lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Raelene Harvey, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Harvey has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Crosby, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Wingate pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Many Farms, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Wingate will square off against Crownpoint at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crownpoint will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Wingate surely won't give up without a fight. As for Many Farms, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-4 win against Greyhills Academy on the 11th.
