Superior had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-15 to make it five. They lost 12-4 to the San Manuel Miners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.
Christian Hollenbeck was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Hollenbeck wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raiden Sommer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for San Manuel, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Superior, San Manuel also got a great game from a two-way player: Ivan Flores. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Flores has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elijah Boisvine was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kevin Waddell was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Superior didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-4 defeat against Mogollon on the 24th. As for San Manuel, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-2 loss against Hayden on the 22nd.
