Baseball Recap: Fletcher Wins Going Away Against Cyril

Fletcher never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cyril on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Pirates. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

EJ Squyres and Morgan Harrington did most of the damage at the plate: Squyres scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Harrington got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. Harrington has become a key player for Fletcher: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-11 otherwise.

Fletcher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fletcher has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Cyril, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fletcher will welcome Lookeba-Sickles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.44 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
