Keystone Heights had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-13 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Baker County Wildcats 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since March 7, 2025.
Ryder Trull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Destin Harnage was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Keystone Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
As for Baker County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 17, 2025.
On Baker County's side, Nicholas Chowaniec put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Chowaniec was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Chowaniec wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Turner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Keystone Heights will host Interlachen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Baker County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Union County at 6:30 p.m. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fightin' Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
