If the Woodstock Wolverines were riding high off their 68-23 takedown of the Allatoona Buccaneers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Woodstock was dealt a 82-37 loss at the hands of River Ridge on Friday. Woodstock has not had much luck with River Ridge recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Woodstock saw an underclassman step up: Morghan Slater scored 18 points along with two blocks.
River Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allie Sweet, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 27 rebounds. Sweet is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Cleaveland, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Woodstock has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for River Ridge, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.
Woodstock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for River Ridge, they will be playing at home against Rome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. River Ridge is coming into the contest with seven straight victories at home, so Rome is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
