The Pearsall Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Floresville Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Pearsall unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 65-46 fall against Somerset. While losing is never fun, Pearsall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 807th, while Somerset is ranked 398th).
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Floresville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-35 walloping at the hands of Somerset. Floresville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryland Parker, who scored ten points. Connor Parkinson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Pearsall's record now sits at 15-13. As for Floresville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6.
Pearsall was taken down by Floresville 60-29 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Pearsall, Michael Ruiz (who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
