Sequoyah is 2-8 against Cherokee since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sequoyah Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Cherokee Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Sequoyah is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Tuesday, Sequoyah didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against East Forsyth, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win. Given Sequoyah's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while East Forsyth is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Milanni Abdus-salaam continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Bass, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Cherokee made easy work of Woodstock on Tuesday and carried off a 69-47 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cherokee.
Their wins bumped Sequoyah to 4-0 and East Forsyth to 2-2.
Sequoyah might still be hurting after the 72-49 defeat they got from Cherokee when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Sequoyah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
