Hazen Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Forge Christian waltzed into their game on Thursday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Wildcats.
Forge Christian also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Jonathan Tipton gave up only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Forge Christian got a massive performance out of Burke Jasa, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Jasa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben McLean, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Forge Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy struck out seven times.
Forge Christian pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Platte Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Platte Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forge Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Platte Valley suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Forge Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
