The Robbinsville Black Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Owen Warhorses at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Robbinsville gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Smoky Mountain with a sharp 17-2 win.
Payton Odom was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Robbinsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smoky Mountain only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Owen put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mountain Heritage a 14-0 shutout.
Sophie Neal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Neal was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Owen got a massive performance out of Hannah Norton, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Mia Roland was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Owen's record now sits at 3-0. As for Robbinsville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Robbinsville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Owen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
