Video: Top 10 Games of the Week Four Top 25 teams are featured in this week's slate.
We're nearing the halfway point to the 2019 high school football season which means we'll see a lot more league games featured.
This week's slate features half league, conference, or district contests led by the Game of the Week between Denton Guyer (Texas) and Southlake Carroll (Texas).
The winner will be the favorite to win the district title and earn one of the top seeds in the postseason. It's one of two Texas games featured this week.
Some other notable rivalry games feature Northwestern (Miami) vs. Central (Miami), Elder (Cincinnati) vs. St. Xavier (Cincinnati), and American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) vs. Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
Other states on the slate include California, Georgia, Arizona, Louisiana, Indiana, and Kentucky.

First place is on the line in District 5-6A as these two Lone Star State powers tangle. Southlake Carroll has cruised to a 4-0 start without 2020 Clemson commit Mickens. Ewers has shown why he's next in line as the next great Dragons' quarterback. The sophomore gunslinger has thrown for nearly 1,200 yards and has 12 touchdowns to only one interception. Guyer has a big-time quarterback, too. Stowers has over 1,300 yards of total offense and 14 touchdowns. This will be the seventh matchup between the two since 2010 and it's split 3-3. Carroll won last year's contest 33-29 thanks to a touchdown from 2020 Texas A&M commit
Blake Smith in the final seconds.
7 p.m. Friday at Orange Coast College (Costa Mesa, Calif.)

The best league in high school football begins this week - The Trinity League. It has the top two ranked teams in the country and No. 2 St. John Bosco faces a tough Servite squad in the league opener. The Braves were idle last week after a trip to the Aloha State and the Friars handed Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) its first loss of the season. Bosco has won seven in a row against Servite and the average margin of victory during that span is 39.7 points/game.
7:30 p.m. Friday at Traz Powell Stadium (Miami)

Even though they're no longer in the same district this is still one of the biggest rivalries in all of Florida. The Rockets have rolled to five consecutive wins after a season opening loss to No. 5 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore). Northwestern has two losses, both against Top 25 opponents. This should be a good test for each team and this will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs since 2004. The Bulls have won 11 of the previous 21, including four of the last five.

The Greater Catholic League (South) is one of the best in the country and its juiciest matchup of the week features an undefeated St. Xavier team facing a 4-1 Elder squad. Both will be in contention to win the Division 1 state title in 2019. This is the 18th meeting between the two since 2004 and St. X has won 12 of the previous 17, but Elder won 51-26 last season.

This one falls into the same category as Miami Central and Northwestern. Despite not being in the same district anymore it is still one of the best rivalries in the Sunshine State. Gibbons has won four straight since a season opening loss to Northwestern and Patrick Surtain has the Patriots rolling after losing to No. 9 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) in August. They are 4-1 and winning by more than 25 points per game. This will be the 14th meeting between the two since 2009 and Heritage has won 11 of the previous 13, but the Chiefs have won two straight.

It's always big-time when Georgia and Florida lock horns and you know the Sunshine State wants payback after No. 16 Lowndes (Ga.) beat Northwestern (Miami) 48-21 a couple weeks ago. Edgewater is 6-0 and loaded with playmakers led by Hill and Leary. Marietta is one of the most talented teams in the country and should be well rested because they haven't played since Sept. 13.

Chandler had to replace its head coach and starting quarterback that led them to three consecutive 6A state titles. No problem. The Wolves are 5-0 in 2019 and have outscored the opposition 258-38. Perry is 4-2 this season but one of those losses came when they suspended more than 30 players for its game against Cesar Chavez (Laveen). Expect a lot of points to be scored in this one as both are averaging more than 40 points per game. The Pumas are 0-9 against Chandler since 2013 and the Wolves have beat them in the last two 4A state title games.
7 p.m. Friday at Arlington Community high school (Indianapolis)

Trinity has already beat two teams from Indiana in 2019 and a legit Cathedral squad is the only thing standing in its way from going a perfect 3-0. The Fighting Irish are 1-2 against out-of-state opponents this year but both losses came by one score against Elder (Cincinnati) and St. Xavier (Cincinnati) who are a combined 9-1 this year. This will be the fifth matchup between the two since 2011 and first meeting in five years. Kentucky has the upper hand because the Shamrocks have won the previous four.

Tompkins proved it's ready to hang with the big boys of Texas last year finishing over .500 for the first time since being established in 2013 and a win over No. 10 Katy would be the biggest win in school history. Last year, they were 5-0 until they ran into the Tigers and lost 66-13. Katy has ridden momentum after a season opening win over the defending 6A Division 1 state champs, North Shore (Houston), and have outscored its four opponents 194-42.

Both teams check in the Top 3 of the MaxPreps' Computer rankings for Louisiana. The Cougars are 4-0 and have outscored the opposition 170-46. It helps having one of the top quarterbacks in Holstein. The 2020 Harvard commit has thrown for over 5,000 yards and 62 touchdowns since 2018. The scary thing is they have another quarterback waiting in the wings in sophomore
Walker Howard. He's already landed offers from Alabama, LSU, and a handful of other programs. The Bears enter this one 4-0 and are coming off a 47-12 win over Edna Karr (New Orleans).
