The Life Waxahachie Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 51 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 68-51 fall against China Spring. While losing is never fun, Life Waxahachie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 864th, while China Spring is ranked 97th).
Life Waxahachie's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kordell Berry, who rushed for 270 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and James Hicks who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Hicks really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Life Waxahachie's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. As for China Spring, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Life Waxahachie will be playing in front of their home fans against Alvarado at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alvarado is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. China Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
