Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Seminole Warhawks

The Mitchell Mustangs will take on the Seminole Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mitchell 3.3, Seminole 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mitchell took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hernando, sneaking past 4-2.

MICHAH MARK tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, LOGAN KOSLIN was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Mitchell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of KYLE KOSLIN, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Seminole had taken Osceola down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Warhawks took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The defeat continues a trend for the Warhawks in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Mitchell is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Seminole, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mitchell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seminole struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
