After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. David, the Desert Christian Eagles were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They took down San Manuel 49-30. That's another feather in the cap for Desert Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Anika Mulkey was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Addison Jones, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
San Manuel lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laila Ruiz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ruiz has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Jasmine Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Desert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for San Manuel, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9.

Duncan's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so the Miners' offense will have their work cut out for them.
