This season hasn't been kind to the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were the victim of a tough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Leadership Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, College Prep & Leadership Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 600th, while Leadership Academy is ranked 257th).
Despite the loss, College Prep & Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Melody Johnson, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Da?nysa Holloway was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Leadership Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ali Faenza out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faenza has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Guldberg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
College Prep & Leadership Academy bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Leadership Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
College Prep & Leadership Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against GRACE Christian at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge North Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
