Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Takes a Loss

Arrupe Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners, falling 79-54. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Miners are ranked 51st).

Despite the loss, Arrupe Jesuit still got an impressive performance from Louie Garcia, who posted 20 points. Garcia continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Yahir Pizarro, who scored five points and 11 rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Prospect Ridge Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Travis Agbosse, who went 8-for-12 en route to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most assists Agbosse has posted since back in December of 2024. Liam Schilling was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points along with five steals and five blocks.

Arrupe Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Arrupe Jesuit will venture away from home to take on Lake County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Arrupe Jesuit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they will host D'Evelyn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Prospect Ridge Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully D'Evelyn likes a good challenge.
