The Salpointe Catholic Lancers will take on the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Salpointe Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
While Salpointe Catholic's win against St. Mary's wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers skirted past the Knights 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.
Salpointe Catholic let Colton Raetzman and Anthony Milo run wild. Raetzman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Milo went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Shannon, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Crismon typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Bradshaw Mountain proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Rattlers by a score of 13-9. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly four runs.
Dylan Lockwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Garison Jones was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dylan Williams, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Bradshaw Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Bradshaw Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Salpointe Catholic, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Salpointe Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Bradshaw Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Salpointe Catholic might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Bradshaw Mountain in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
