The Foshay Wolverines pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Foshay and New West Charter wasn't particularly close, with Foshay falling 74-59. Foshay has not had much luck with New West Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Foshay saw an underclassman step up: Shomare' Gray scored 25 points along with four steals. Peter Egwurube was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Leading New West Charter to victory were Armon Behikeesh and Liam Hakimi. Behikeesh scored 27 points, while Hakimi scored 32 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hakimi has scored at least a third of New West Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Beck O'Hara, who scored eight points.
Foshay now has a losing record at 7-8. As for New West Charter, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Foshay will be playing in front of their home fans against Larchmont Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Larchmont Charter will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. New West Charter on the road again on Wednesday and play against Middle College at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Middle College is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
