The Victoria East Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Carroll Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Victoria East will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Even though Victoria East has not done well against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Victoria East strolled past Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial with points to spare, taking the game 54-36. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Victoria East did.
Victoria East found their leader in underclassman Avery Valentine, who scored 21 points. Valentine hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of C'niaha Randle, who scored 10 points.
Carroll fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over Miller. That's two games straight that Carroll has won by exactly a single point.
Victoria East pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Victoria East was able to grind out a solid win over Carroll in their previous matchup on Friday, winning 60-53. Will Victoria East repeat their success, or does Carroll have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
