IDEA Weslaco Pike was beaten by Rio Hondo 75-34 on Tuesday. IDEA Weslaco Pike has not had much luck with Rio Hondo recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rio Hondo found their leader in underclassman Abby Atkinson, who scored 24 points. Atkinson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Molina, who scored 12 points.
IDEA Weslaco Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Rio Hondo, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Weslaco Pike will face off against Monte Alto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Alto comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Rio Hondo, they will head out on the road to face off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
