The Severance Silver Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Severance focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Severance's game was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverdale Ridge.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brady Varney, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Jaden Hoffman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact Resurrection Christian proved on Tuesday. They breezed by Eagle Ridge Academy at home to the tune of 79-39. With Resurrection Christian ahead 42-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Resurrection Christian can attribute much of their success to Marcus Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Egan Koenig, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Severance's win lifted them to 2-1 while Riverdale Ridge's defeat dropped them down to 3-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Severance and Resurrection Christian are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Severance hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.7 points per game. However, it's not like Resurrection Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 79 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Severance skirted past Resurrection Christian 49-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Severance since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
