1A Yadkin Valley recap Oct. 3, 2012
Albemarle led 1A Yadkin Valley in scoring this week after putting up 76 points on South Davidson. Deon Christian threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns and ran for nine yards in the win.
The Bulldogs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Kevin McKinney chipped in 134 yards. Markez Brown helped Albemarle's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Timmie White was the best wideout in the league this week as Albemarle beat the Wildcats. White racked up three receptions for 39 yards.
Albemarle's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Christian has thrown for 803 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Brown has 13 catches for 229 yards. McKinney leads the league in rushing with 751 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Yadkin Valley this week will be when North Rowan takes on Danny Akins's team. The Cavaliers are in third place, while the Bulldogs are in first place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when North Rowan takes on Albemarle. The Cavaliers have allowed 103 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 60.
South Stanly made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,516 from 9,615. The improvement was the result of 30-6 victory over East Montgomery last week.
