The Bishop LeBlond Eagles came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 50-35 win over Wellington-Napoleon. Given Bishop LeBlond's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Wellington-Napoleon is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Wellington-Napoleon still got an impressive performance from Trotter Hughes, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Bishop LeBlond is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Bishop LeBlond will head out on the road to take on East Buchanan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Buchanan will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Wellington-Napoleon on the road again on Friday and play against Braymer at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Braymer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
