The Ferndale Wildcats were the 56-35 winner over the Point Arena Pirates when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Ferndale was dealt a 86-35 loss at the hands of Point Arena on Saturday. Ferndale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-22.
Leading Point Arena to victory were Fernando Lopez and Derek Billy. Lopez dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Billy dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Point Arena's points. Another player making a difference was Dauki Bechtol, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Ferndale's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Point Arena, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Ferndale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kelseyville at 8:00 p.m. on December 14th. As for Point Arena, they will square off against Roseland University Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
