The Western Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 75-29 win over West Boca Raton. Given Western's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while West Boca Raton is ranked 482nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Fowles, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Fowles is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Kelly, who scored 13 points.
Western's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for West Boca Raton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western will square off against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Chaminade-Madonna has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. West Boca Raton and Boynton Beach will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
