If the Gilbert Christian Knights were riding high off their 82-50 takedown of the Benjamin Franklin Chargers on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gilbert Christian lost to New Trier on the road by a decisive 67-51 margin on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gilbert Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Gilbert Christian still got an impressive performance from Keon Talgo, who scored 20 points. The match was Talgo's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Fermoyle, who scored seven points.
Gilbert Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for New Trier, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Gilbert Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Horizon on December 15th. Horizon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Gilbert Christian is ranked 42nd). New Trier's road trip will continue as they head out to face Evanston at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st.
