Hilliard and Lafayette are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Hilliard Red Flashes will square off against the Lafayette Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hilliard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 74-30 victory over Hamilton County. The Red Flashes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 25 points or more this season.

Alyssa Hallman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 18 on her way to 23 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailyn Ballance, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.
Hilliard was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lafayette had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 win over the Cowboys.
Lafayette's win came from a few key players Hilliard will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Havyn Richardson, who made all 6 shots she took racking up 15 points. Kiley Beach was another key player, putting up ten points.
Hilliard's record now sits at 15-8. As for Lafayette, their record now sits at 14-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hilliard has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Hilliard's way against Lafayette when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Hilliard made off with a 56-30 victory. Does Hilliard have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lafayette turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
