Bishop O'Connell entered their tilt with Mater Lakes Academy on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They managed a 63-59 victory over the Mater Lakes Academy Bears. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Despite the loss, Mater Lakes Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vanessa Vancott went 10 for 23 on her way to 38 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Vancott's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Fernandez, who posted 12 points.

Bishop O'Connell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Mater Lakes Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Connell will square off against Bishop Ireton at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will challenge Sports Leadership & Management at 5:00 p.m. on January 7th.
