Ridgevue hasn't had much luck against Capital recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warhawks will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
Friday just wasn't the day for Ridgevue's offense. They lost 10-0 to Mountain View on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Warhawks have lost by exactly ten runs.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Capital and Centennial meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 8-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Romy Turpen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olli Fuchs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. McKenna Chavez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Capital kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Ridgevue's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Capital, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridgevue hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ridgevue might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Capital when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Warhawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
