The Providence Hall Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Juab Wasps at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Providence Hall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Providence Hall made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Providence Hall's way against West on Wednesday as Providence Hall made off with a 28-3 win. The match marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Nena Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Providence Hall got a massive performance out of Ireland Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That home run marked the first that Anderson launched this season. Another player making a difference was Alysa Marcek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one double.
Providence Hall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Juab was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-1 to Manti.
Madi Blankenagel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Providence Hall pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Juab, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Juab's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Providence Hall has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Juab, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Providence Hall keep running through batters, or will Juab buck the trend?
Providence Hall beat Juab 11-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Hall since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
