It was a good run, but the Palmer Trinity Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sports Leadership & Management by a score of 54-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Palmer Trinity came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Sports Leadership & Management is ranked 133rd).
When it comes to explaining why Palmer Trinity lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jade Leon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Leon scored a full 26.9% of Palmer Trinity's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mati Veloso was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Palmer Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer Trinity will square off against Gulliver Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will head out on the road to face off against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
