The Jackson Red Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 66-65 photo finish over Pike County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevan Gray, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Ja'dariyan Pennamon, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Pike County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nazarious McDowell, who scored 30 points along with two steals, and Yadiel Rosado who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McDowell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Richardson, who scored four points along with two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Jackson and bumps their season record up to 4-15. As for Pike County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson will take on Upson-Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Upson-Lee will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Pike County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
