Hayfield is 9-1 against Edison since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Edison will be up against a hot Hayfield team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Hawks put the hurt on Annandale with a sharp 10-2 victory on Tuesday.
Braden Feaster looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Archer, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jacob Bueno was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Hayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Edison made easy work of Justice on Tuesday and carried off a 14-4 win.
Edison also got a great performance from Jackson Naumovich as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Naumovich has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Derek Potts was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Dobson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Edison's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Hayfield, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hayfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hayfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Edison in their previous matchup back in April, winning 6-1. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
