The Omak Pioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cascade Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Omak at home against Cascade as the team secured a 53-12 victory. Given Omak's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Cascade is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cascade Christian entered their tilt with Vashon Island with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cascade Christian blew past Vashon Island 62-0 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Cascade Christian had established a 56 point advantage.
Jackson Almond got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Almond really tore up the turf during one magnificent 77-yard run. Another player making a difference was Byson Vasquez, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cascade Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Brian Rivera and his three sacks.
Omak is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Cascade Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
