The Piqua Indians will head out on the road to face off against the West Carrollton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Piqua focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, Piqua was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-27 to Stebbins. Piqua has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Piqua's defeat came about despite a quality game from Isaiah Martin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Piqua were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stebbins only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Carrollton took care of business in their home opener last Friday (barely). They had just enough and edged Butler out 48-46. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but West Carrollton was the better team in the second half.
Piqua now has a losing record at 1-2. As for West Carrollton, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Piqua came up short against West Carrollton in their previous matchup back in January, falling 52-47. Can Piqua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
