Clinton is 8-2 against Adirondack since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Clinton Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Adirondack Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Clinton will be strutting in after a win while Adirondack will be coming in after a loss.
Clinton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener back in November. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Waterville and snuck past 47-44.
Meanwhile, Adirondack's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Herkimer at home by a decisive 72-56 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their defeat, Adirondack saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bailey Gleasman, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Gleasman scored a full 30.4% of Adirondack's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan McGrath, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Clinton pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Adirondack, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Clinton beat Adirondack 79-69 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Adirondack's Alex Gaylord, who scored 42 points. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Clinton to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
