Cherokee dropped their record down to 11-15 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grainger Grizzlies by a score of  10-9. Chiefs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Grizzlies since  on Thursday.
 Gage Adkins was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  a single  earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances with one  home run and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Parker Travis was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run.  Jake Elliott was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI.
As for Grainger,  the  win snapped their losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 11-14 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
 On Grainger's side,  Ty Collins was  incredible,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with one  home run, four  RBI,  and one  double. Those  four  RBI gave  Collins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Connor May, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 Coming up, Cherokee will host Cocke County  at 1:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Grainger, they will head out to  challenge Pigeon Forge  at 12:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5  runs per game  this season, so the Grizzlies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
